Elubo chief, brother arrested for galamsey granted GH¢100,000 bail

The chief of Sefwi Elubo, Nana Anini Baffour, who was arrested with his brother, Kwadwo Affi, for engaging in illegal mining activities, has been granted GH¢100,000 bail each with surety of Ghana Card.

The two, together with two other accomplices were granted bail in court by His Worship Lawrence Buenor on Monday, September 26, 2022.

They were charged with conspiracy to commit crime with mining without license and mining without license.

Nana Anini Baffour and his brother, Kwadwo Affi, were arrested by police in the Western North Region on Friday, September 16, 2022, after a video of their activities went viral.

In the video, some compound houses in the town were seen degraded by the activities of illegal miners.

Some of the dugouts led to the bedroom of the chief’s brother.

Two more persons, Mr. Maxwell Quansah, and Williams Acquah, were later picked up by the police.

They are to reappear in court on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
