#Fixthecountry convernor, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has said that he was tortured by security officials while under detention for his coup comment on social media.
“On Friday, 11 February 2022, I was unlawfully detained by security officials of this regime, tortured, and subsequently held without just cause for 35 days”, he said in a statement.
According to him, he spent 35 days in a prison cell that was “designed to contain four people but was ultimately filled with nearly 30 detainees without any ventilation and also had bed bugs, cockroaches and some other crawling insects.”
He however added that, the police never offered him food whiles in cells but rather had to rely on family and friends for survival.
“its inhumane as far as I’m concerned for people to go through these number of days without food through no choice of their own and that’s why we are here. I met people who had not eaten for five days, but when I complained about it, I was told by the police that they are used to it”, he said.
He again added that, “Fix the country abides by the law and it will forever abide by the tenets of democracy”.
He has therefore urged all Ghanaians to abstain from giving up their quest to hold those in power accountable
