The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has cautioned the general public about a cryptocurrency named “Freedom Coin” yet to be lunched by its owner, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar.
According to them, the promoting company has no approval from Bank of Ghana to operate in the banking and payment sector, therefore anyone that engages him or herself into it does that at his or her own risk.
The Bank further directed all licensed institutions including banks, specialized deposit-taking institutions, dedicated electronic money issuers and payment service providers to refrain from facilitating cryptocurrency transactions via their platforms or agent outlets.
