A 46-year-old man has been killed and secretly buried over a missing dog meat at Assin Atwereboandah in the Assin North District of the Central Region of Ghana.
According to reports from the District Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Moses Osakonor, he told one Graphic’s Online reporter, Shirley Asiedu Addo, that the deceased, Daniel Akoto, popularly known in the town as Abrantie, was reportedly hit with a stick last Friday February 25, 2022, resulting to his death.
According to him, one Kwame, a 49-year-old man and a brother to the main suspect, Thomas Dzinah Kume, a.k.a Sankara, had complained earlier about his missing dog which the deceased, Akoto, told him that he has seen Sankara preparing soup with meat and was eating it with some friends.
According to reports, Sankara invited Akoto to join their meal after he has seen them eating which he declined.
Kwame however confronted his brother about his missing dog after hearing the news from Akoto which Sankara suspected it is the deceased who hinted what he saw to his brother.
During a misunderstanding, Sankara reportedly hit Akoto with a stick which some eyewitnesses went in to save Akoto but he reportedly died on his way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that, the Odikro of the town after the incident, supported by the Unit Committee secretary went ahead and buried Akoto without reporting the case to the police.
The police have then moved in to arrest nine people including the Odikro, Nana George Ahiatornyo and some others.
It has also being revealed that, two brothers of the deceased, the Unit Committee Secretary, Swanzy Lumor and Gideon Zorve, have also be arrested by police for masterminding the burial of their brother without authorisation from the police and the court.
They are however in police custody at Assin Praso while investigations are ongoing.
