Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has rendered an apology on and behalf of parliament, over events of December 20, 2021.
The Suame Member of Parliament remarked that the brawl in parliament cannot be anyway justified, calling on the public to forgive the House.
Describing the events of December 20, 2021, as shameful and embarrassing moments for parliament, he noted that such incident should never recur, as it brings the image of parliament into disrepute.
He however questioned the commitment of the Right Hon. Speaker Alban Bagin to government’s business in parliament.
‘‘One person cannot hold the entire nation to ransom,’’ he charged.
Osei Mensah Bonsu noted that when the Speaker asked the First Deputy Speaker to take his seat, he created an impression that he was going to return after a while, only for him to vacate parliament to his residence, without any notice to the leadership of both the Majority and Minority sides.
