Charles Owusu, a social commentator, has wondered whether the Privileges Committee of Parliament can muster the moral rights to commit someone for being contemptuous to parliament, given instance of unparliamentary conducts in parliament, in recent months.
Charles Owusu has expressed disgust at events between the Minority and Majority in parliament, regarding the passage of the 2022 budget.
He was reacting to allegations that the Ministry of Finance has earmarked some GHC 241 million to the GRA for purposes of collection and monitoring of the proposed E-levies.
He also decried the fact that both the Majority and Minority appear not to be concerned about the 34 billion Ghana cedis the country has lost leakages and slippages in public sector.
According to the former Director for Monitoring and Evaluation at the Forestry Commission, the Ghanaian youth may be compelled to rise up against the poor state of leadership in the country.
‘‘Those misusing our resources should be careful. The fleecing of state funds is worrying. Those in Parliament and Government should remember the plights of the people who has honored them with the mandate’’, he stated.
‘‘A lot of people are in abject poverty. People are truly suffering in this country, but it appears those in leadership do not care,’’ he lamented further.
He asked the political class to reach out and listen to the people at the local level.
