President Nana Addo has taken a swipe at the European Union for not making vaccines available to African countries.
Speaking at the European Union Parliament in France, the President noted that whereas 70% of Europeans have vaccinated, the number of Africans who have vaccinated is less than 10%.
According to him, the low vaccination among African countries does not only pose a threat to just the continent, but also the wider global ecosystem.
He bemoaned the geopolitics with vaccine distribution, as same could impede efforts at containing the pandemic.
He reiterated the view that until everyone is vaccinated, no one is safe, calling on the European Union to step up its efforts towards ensuring vaccine equity.
‘’I am a firm believer in the statement that, no one is safe until everyone is safe. Let us help make vaccines available to all parts of the world, encourage our citizens to take the jab and we will win the fight against COVID faster and together’’, Ghana’s President underscored.
