The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu in the Northern Region, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini has described as shameful the decision of Majority in parliament to sidestep the Minority’s decision that saw the rejection of the 2022 budget.
The ranking member of the Communications Committee of Parliament said that once Joseph Osei Owusu sat in as Speaker of parliament, he invariably lost the capacity to count himself as member of the Majority side.
The Speaker acted as both a referee and a player, by participating in the vote. That was what Joseph Osei Owusu did. It was a fraudulent, unprecedented and shameful act Joseph Osei Owusu did, he charged.
He noted that such acts by the Speaker was denigrating to parliament, as same cannot be justified.
He accused the Majority of absconding from Parliament because at the time they walked out of parliament, they did not have the numbers to push their budget through.
‘‘This is time in the history of Ghana that a Majority is running away from the business of government. They fled with their tails between their legs,’’ he recalled.
