The Minority in Parliament has described as undemocratic and lawless, the decision of the Majority in Parliament to annul the earlier rejection of the 2022 budget statements.
In a brief press briefing, the Minority Leader noted that the Minority could not be part of an illegality that will insensitively lead to imposition of taxes on the already burden citizenry, hence their decision to boycott sitting.
He mentioned that the processes that saw the approval of the budget was in flagrant breach of the 1992 constitution the standing orders of parliament.
‘’Let me repeat this. A deputy speaker or any member residing shall not retain his original vote whilst presiding,’’ he quoted
He reiterates the Minority opposition and rejection of the budget until some issues relating to the Agyapa deal, the e-levies and others are adequately addressed.
He accused the Minister of Finance of endangering the next foreseeable political administration, to be led by John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.
‘’This Minister of Finance has collateralized every opportunity and revenue in order that he can endanger the future of an incoming political administration,’’ he noted.
Meanwhile, the Majority approved the 2022 budget, amidst a walk out from members of the Minority side of parliament.
This follows a decision to quash the earlier decision to reject the 2022 budget.
