Former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye is urging Ghanaians to take the ongoing vaccination exercise seriously.
He made this call while speaking on the Friday edition of Kokrokoo Morning show on Peace FM.
He remarked that whilst the number of active COVID-19 cases has reduced to a little over 2, 000 in Ghana, the risk of contraction and it attendant consequence, are still with us.
He advised among others that people who are obese and diabetic patients, should take the vaccination exercise seriously as they were at a higher risk of succumbing to the virus.
He expressed worry over the fact that people only want to vaccinate only when they hear of rising active COVID-19 cases.
‘‘The ant they say prepare ahead of adversity. That should be our approach to dealing with COVI-19. We need to take the vaccination seriously to reduce the risk associated with same,’’ the astute medical practitioner postulated.
Data from the Ghana Health Services put the total vaccine dose administered at 2,025, 183, with over 820, 037 Ghanaians being fully vaccinated. The unit also pegs the total number of active cases in Ghana at 2,969, as at October, 03, 2021.
