The National Cathedral has been spiking a lot of controversies in the country currently, in reverence of the current economic state.
On the dawn of December 22, 2022, the minority fought against the government’s decision to allocate Gh80 million into the building of the National Cathedral.
Honourable Samuel Nartey George, expressed his opinion bluntly on the matter and also went ahead to quote scriptures in the Bible that is against it.
In his words, he quoted the scriptures of Luke 14 verse 28 “is there anyone here, planning to build a new house ( a cathedral ) who doesn’t first sit down to figure the cost so you know if you can complete it, if you only can get the foundation laid and then run out of money you are going to look pretty foolish. Everyone passing by will poke fun at you . He started something he couldn’t finish, this is the word of the Lord.”
He then went on to compare his church, Perez Chapel to the Cathedral saying , “if 14,000 will not attract the blessing of God, is a 5,000 by an LGBTQ advocate, that will attract the blessings of God ?”.
At the end of the Parliamentary debate, it ended with the Gh80 million being reallocated to the Ministry of Communications and Digitization Ghana.
