An Assistant headteacher of Mpatasie D/A primary in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Akwasi Anane, has died after galamsey pit collapsed on him.
The sad incident is said to have happened around 9pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
According to reports from the district National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) office, the 47-year-old Mr. Anane was supervising a galamsey activity on his site when portion of the pit caved in at where he was standing.
The report added that effort to rescue him was unsuccessful.
The body has therefore been deposited at the St Martin Hospital at Agroyesum awaiting investigation and autopsy.
