The Pharmacy Council of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to rid the country of unwholesome or fake drugs.

The Council stated that it has instituted sufficient control mechanisms to ensure that counterfeit and other banned substances are not available on the E-Pharmacy platform.

According to the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council, Awudu Rauf the introduction of the E-Pharmacy will go a long way to help checkmate drugs that are put out for sale.

He reiterated that counterfeit or banned substances will not be available on the platform.He further announced that there will be specific rules for uploading , selling and delivering prescribed medicine through the E-Pharmacy platform.

He made this statement at the launch of E-Pharmacy on Wednesday, 22, December 2021.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, launched the E-Pharmacy, a one-stop-shop digital platform for the purchase of prescribed medicines.

According to the Vice President, the E-Pharmacy platform will help consumers to compare prices of the prescribed drugs before making a purchase, bring transparency and convenience to the purchase of prescribed medications.

The Platform affords individual to use their mobile phones to access prescribed medications, with ease and convenience.

Ghana is the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to introduce E-Pharmacy.
