General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu has called on the rank and file of the party to remain focused on the needs and expectations of Ghanaians.

He made this call in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese3, on Okay FM’s Morning Show.

Ahead of the Party’s Annual National Delegates Conference, which is scheduled between December 18 and 20, 2021, the National Steering Committee of the Party has banned all forms of political campaigns.

The highest decision-making body of the party has also directed that all billboards of members aspiring to contest any position in the party, be removed.

According to John Boadu, it behooves on the party to debunk misconception that the ruling New Patriotic Party is profligate and wasteful in the management of the country’s resources.

‘‘The Conference is not just about the New Patriotic Party. It is also about Ghanaians, the people who have given us a mandate to a better life for. We should not do anything to jeopardize their trust and confidence in us,’’ John Boadu.

As the ruling New Patriotic Party heads to its Annual Delegates Conference, there have been reports of internal party jostling. Persons, including Ministers of State, have been engaged in some form of latent and patent campaigning, with some mounting imposing billboards.

This has since drawn sharp criticisms from political commentators, with some calling these actions as egregious misconduct.
