Vice Chairman of the Communications Committee of parliament, HON. Sylvester Tetteh of has lashed out at his colleague Minority members on the committee.

According to him, an attempt by the Minority to claim credit for getting some outstanding reports from the NCA smacks populism.

It is reported that the Minority members on the Communications Committee demanded that copies of the National Communications Authority’s Report before budget estimates for the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization would be considered.

This held up their meeting with the Ministry for some minutes, following which four of NCA’s outstanding reports were made available to the Committee.

Following this, a ranking member of the Committee, HON. Samuel Nartey George in an interview with CITI FM asserted that but for the Minority’s insistence the reports, which have been pending since 2015, would not have been made available to parliament.

According to the Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament, section 23 of the NCA Acts mandates the sector Minister to make available reports of the National Communications Authority available to parliament.

But taking his turn to respond to the issues, Mr. Tetteh insisted that the Minority cannot claim credit for getting the reports because the Minister had already committed to making some of the reports available to parliament.

He further urged the Minority to desist from their populism stands on national matters.

He, however, agreed in principle, with the Minority that parliament should take a serious view on refusal of Ministry and Agencies to submit their annual reports to the house.
