Ghanaian dancehall and afrobeats superstar Stonebwoy has officially shifted his flagship annual event, the BHIM Festival, from its traditional December 26 slot to December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve).

This marks the 10th anniversary edition of the festival, which is set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. The change comes with strong endorsement from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), positioning the concert as a key highlight of the government’s “December in GH” tourism initiative aimed at boosting cultural events and visitor numbers during the festive season.

The decision stems from a scheduling conflict with Taste the Culture, a major cultural showcase organized by the Black Star Experience (BSE) Secretariat as part of the same December in GH calendar. BSE, coordinated by veteran musician Rex Omar, had also eyed December 26, leading to public tensions earlier in the year.

Stonebwoy’s team at Burniton Music Group (BMG) cited public safety, traffic management, and avoiding venue congestion as primary reasons for the move—despite the financial hit from reprinting materials and adjusting logistics.

In late October, Rex Omar clarified that BSE’s date was locked in without knowledge of BHIM’s plans, denying any intent to sabotage the festival. He emphasized collaboration over competition in Ghana’s creative scene.

Organizers expressed hope for better industry unity moving forward, stating, “We hope that in the future, all stakeholders within the creative industry will support, rather than compete with, Ghanaian event organisers.”

The GTA stepped in decisively, announcing its partnership with BMG on November 7, 2025. This includes;Securing the Accra Sports Stadium exclusively for BHIM on the new date,Full setup oversight by BMG starting December 23, promoting the event as a pillar of Ghana’s tourism growth, with GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto highlighting its role in “amplifying the creative arts” and cementing Ghana as “Africa’s festive and cultural hub.”

This backing aligns with GTA’s broader push to coordinate December events, preventing overlaps and enhancing security through partnerships with the Ghana Police Service and National Fire Service.Event Highlights and Logistics

Celebrating a decade of “dominance,” the festival expects over 40,000 attendees and features 20+ Ghanaian and international artists in a blend of music, culture, and celebration. Stonebwoy has teased a “more historic” edition, building on past successes like the 2023 Ghana-Jamaica crossover.

All previously purchased tickets remain valid—no refunds or exchanges needed. Early bird sales are already moving fast via bhimfestival.com/tickets or by dialing *7142025# in Ghana. Organizers predict a sell-out by early December.

BMG issued a statement regretting any inconvenience but assuring an “unforgettable night of world-class performances.”

Recent buzz on X (formerly Twitter) echoes the excitement, with fans sharing press releases and hyping the shutdown potential—drawing parallels to Stonebwoy’s recent electrifying performance at the Hogbetsotso Festival in Anloga.
