British actor Terence Stamp, renowned for his chilling portrayal of General Zod in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980), passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 87, as confirmed by his family.

Stamp’s career spanned over six decades, earning him an Oscar nomination for his debut role in Billy Budd (1962) and accolades like a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer and a Cannes Best Actor award for The Collector (1965).

Beyond his iconic Kryptonian villain, he starred in diverse films such as The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999), and Last Night in Soho (2021), and voiced Jor-El in Smallville.

His family noted he left “an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer.”
