Perpetrators of Ayawaso Wugon Violence will be Punished-Mahama

Former President John Dramani Manaha has promised to compensate victims of the Ayawaso Wagon electoral violence when elected to government

He also promised to bring persons found culpable in the skirmishes to account, when elected as President.

President Mahama criticized the government for failing to live up to its campaign promises, citing the Ghana Statistical Services recent report regarding high unemployment rate among young people in Ghana.

He made this call in a mini rally at Baweleshi, a suburb of East Legon, after his tour of the University of Ghana.

The bye election of 2018, which had been occasioned by the demise of the Emmanual Boakye Agyarko, was marred by violence, with some voters sustaining various degrees of injuries.

Widely circulated videos of the incident capture an assault on the incumber Member of Parliament of Ningo Prampam, Hon. George Samuel Nettey by some security personnel detailed to ensure order during the election.

Flanked by the NDC’s parliamentary hopeful, John Dumelo, the former president also asked members of the party to be vigilant in policing the electoral process.
