GRNMA Dissatisfied with A/R NSS Boss Suspension

The Vice President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Ashanti Region chapter, Mr. Philemon Adu Brempong has voiced out the Association’s dissatisfaction with the suspension of the Ashanti Regional National Service Secretariat (NSS) Director, Mr. Alex Opoku-Mensah.

In an interview with a Citi News Reporter on January 4, 2023, Mr. Brempong said the association were not happy with the suspension of the NSS Director, but accept the decision of NSS Director in good faith.

“We are not happy with the outcome but we fully accept what they are doing, in the letter they have stated withholding the salary for 2 months and reassigning him to the National office to work under supervision, we think it’s okay and we accept what they have done so far.”

He added that the committee’s meeting with the victim was a fact finding and not a fault finding mission.

The Association have also expressed that their interest was not with taking Mr. Opoku-Mensah’s job but rather the concern of him working directly with nurses and midwives.

A nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital who was interviewed anonymously on how the incident has affected nurses and doctors relationship in the facility said, “Initially I would say we were doing the doctor’s work someway somehow, but right now that we have all understood ourselves and we’re working as we were given admission letters to come and work here as Doctors and Nurses, we’re all working as we’re supposed to.”
