Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education has told the Management of the University of Ghana (UG) to start applying the 15 % percent increment in its tertiary institution.
It was announced by the Ghana Tertiary Education Council (GTEC) that all public tertiary institutions are supposed to increase its fees for the next academic year by a maximum of 15 %.
Some students of the University of Ghana have shared that the Management of the school has been charging more than the 15% approved fees.
However, an investigation by the ministry is ongoing to find out if it is true the school is implementing a 37% increment instead of 15%.
The school’s management therefore says it is going to have a meeting about the 15% increment.
“We have also heard from the University of Cape Coast about fees that they have taken. In cases where fees were over 15%, they are doing refunds. They want to move within the 15% as mandated by Parliament,” the ministry added.
