The National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of the Universities of Ghana, Mr. George Ansong, has disclosed the reason behind the team’s refusal to open their offices.
He explained that they had made some demands of the government and have been awaiting a befitting response, but to no avail, so the strike will remain indefinite.
“We are not children to be going on strikes all the time. If an organization embarks on a strike, then something is wrong somewhere which needs to be fixed at all cost. We want to remind the government of the promises made to us,” he explained to a reporter.
Furthermore, Mr. Ansong lamented over the delay of the government, even after the negotiation had been approved and all requirements from the association had been provided.
According to him, all necessary documentations had been submitted and accepted, which could have paved way for swift payment of allowances.
“My people and I are of the view that nothing good will come out of that supposed meeting, which is why we won’t go. Besides the Ministry of Finance is not directly involved in this. Let the right individuals address our case.” Mr. Ansong concluded.
