Asamoah Gyan, one of the best players in Africa and a player of the Ghana Black Stars nearly rose to glory during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
During the 2010 World Cup, the world saw a rising star that would never be forgotten in the history of football.
The former Ghanaian striker, who in the 2010 World Cup tournament was unstoppable and untouchable took Ghana from the group stage to beating USA in the round of 16 2:1 to the Quarterfinals for the first time in World Cup history .
In the quarterfinals, the game came to a draw before the final whistle but saw Ghana gain a penalty, after Uruguay’s player Luise Suarez handled the ball in the penalty box stopping Ghana from taking the lead .
Sadly, Asamoah Gyan had the whole of Africa watching the game and missed the penalty, taking the game to an extra time for a penalty shootout but sadly, Ghana lost again leading them to an elimination.
The jersey Asamoah Gyan wore in that match against Uruguay has now been preserved in FIFA’s Museum because of the iconic moment it was and also because they would have been the first African country to qualify to the semi-finals stage.
It would forever be in football history.
