Sam George threatens Legal action against EC

The member of parliament for Ningo-prampram constituency, Hon Sam George has threatened to sue the Electoral Commission of Ghana for “contempt of court”.

The NDC member of parliament in an interview with Joynews at the entrance of City Escape Home in his constituency, alleged that there was an ongoing workshop by EC officials inside the hotel after the Tema high court placed an interim injunction on that particular workshop.

In a video footage, the MP is seen in the company of Peter Boamah Otokunor, John Dumelo and other NDC executives shouting, insisting and demanding the suspension of alleged ongoing meeting/workshop by the EC officials inside the city Escape hotel.

Regional Director of Operations, ACP Kwesi Ofori managed to calm the situation at the entrance of the hotel, in an interview he confirmed some officials of the EC less than twenty in number was seen at the lobby of the hotel but there was no formal meeting going on.

ACP Kwesi Ofori further revealed he has advised the MP and the colleagues that, following their report/complaint made at the Airport police station, they should go back and see the Airport District Police Commander and go through formalities.

The ACP had also directed the officials Electoral Commission of Ghana seen at the premises of the hotel to go and the see the Airport District Police Commander and write the their statement accordingly.
