Former Central Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Allotey Jacobs, has said that Ghanaians are very much interested in eking out a living and not who can flex their political muscle.
‘‘He reiterated that Ghanaians are only concerned about bread-and-butter issues. We only care about how to eke a living and not the gymnastics of politics,’’ he asserted.
Mr. Allotey made the statement on the Wednesday edition of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show.
He further questioned the demeanor of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, prior to the rejection of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government.
What I saw last Friday was not in a good taste. From my readings of the Speaker’s countenance, it appears, he was under a certain compulsion to reject the budget,’’ he observed.
He commended Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu for exerting his authority as Speaker of Parliament.
He wondered how the Minority will be opposed to the ballooning loan portfolio of the country and yet be opposed attempts by government to find other avenues of revenue generation.
Mr. Allotey asked parliament to iron out their difference and work towards bettering the condition of Ghanains.
