I will “Spill the Beans” -Kennedy Agyapong warns NPP

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has ignited fresh controversy within the opposition party after warning that he could expose damaging information if party members continue to describe him as a “bitter” politician following the NPP’s 2024 electoral defeat.

In remarks that have since dominated political discussions, Kennedy Agyapong cautioned that the party should be “careful” in its treatment of him, adding that if provoked, he would “spill the beans all over the place.” The comments have fueled speculation about growing tensions between the former presidential aspirant and elements within the NPP hierarchy.

The latest remarks come against the backdrop of an increasingly strained relationship between Kennedy Agyapong and sections of the NPP leadership since the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections. While the businessman-politician has repeatedly maintained his commitment to the NPP, he has in recent months become one of the most vocal internal critics of the party’s decision-making, campaign strategy and post-election conduct.

His supporters argue that he is advocating honest introspection, while critics within the party believe his public interventions risk deepening divisions ahead of efforts to rebuild for the 2028 elections.

A major flashpoint emerged this week when Kennedy Agyapong publicly criticized both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the delayed operationalization of the Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

His comments immediately triggered backlash from sections of the NPP, particularly because the Afari Hospital has become a major political issue between the governing NDC and the opposition Minority in Parliament. Several party communicators and supporters accused Kennedy Agyapong of handing political ammunition to the NDC.

fact-check reports by Myjoyonline, has however, challenged his assertion that the NPP “didn’t do anything” on the project, pointing to government payments, construction progress and reports indicating that the facility advanced significantly during the Akufo-Addo administration, even though it was not fully operationalized before the party left office.
