Man Blames NPP Over Burnt ‘Galamsey’ Excavator; Says They Should Not Dare Campaign In His Town

It appears the government in power is putting measures in place to eradicate the reign of illegal mining in Ghana to the extent of alleged burning of excavators used in discharging duties of illegal miners.

One of the hilarious trending situations this week has to do with one elderly illegal miner who has taken a swipe at the National People’s Party and cohorts for snatching away his livelihood.

The reaction came after a military team in Ghana, assigned to sanction all illegal miners, reportedly burnt his excavator.

In the video shared on X, the man talked about his disappointment in President Akufo-Addo and his administration for destroying the only mechanism he had been using to stay afloat in the ‘galamsey’ business.

“The fools among the leaders are becoming too many. We will stop campaigning for this party. We will not allow them to campaign in this area at all. If they insist, they won’t like the outcome. Just look at what they have done to my excavator, something I bought with hard-earned money, why did they have to burn it?,” lamented the illegal miner as he kept pointing to the excavator in flames.

The Ghana National Association of Small-scale miners in collaboration with the military has joined forces to fight all forms of mining that will harm the river, beginning with the Birim River, and this happens to form part of the government’s initiatives to flush out the canker.
