John Amos, ‘Roots’ Actor, Called To Glory At 84

Best known for his outstanding role as ‘Kunta Kinte’ in the movie titled ‘Roots’, John Amos remains a great force to reckon with in the Hollywood industry, even after his passing.

The ‘Roots’ story is based on the true life challenges of an ancient relative of Alex Haley, an author, and how the man was forced out of his birth country, Gambia, and sold as a slave.

It became one of the favorite sitcom deliveries in America, during the late 1970’s, and received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for thirty-nine consecutive times, out which the late Amos won nine.

While he John Amos was still alive, he had two children, Shannon Amos(57) and Christopher Amos(53), with a Jewish wife, Noel Mickelson — though, they got divorced in 1975.
