The traditional leaders and villagers of Offuman community in the Techiman North District, Bono East Region of Ghana have observed the festivities for their town’s annual Yam Festival.
Merry-making and other fun-events left impressions in the vicinity, as a lot of dignitaries from in and out of Techiman graced the occasion.
Present at the durbar grounds were the former Bono-East Regional House of Chiefs president, Chief of Yeji Traditional area(Pemampem Yaw Kabrese V), Paramount Chief of Mo Traditional area(Nana Kwaku Dankwah II), all representatives for the Ashanti Regional Queen Mothers Association, Member of Parliament for Techiman North (Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare).
Moreover, the District Chief Executive Officer of Techiman North(Hon. Addo-Donkor Everton joined the entourage of the other important personalities at the durbar grounds.
Nana Kwaku Gyan Brokuo II, paramount chief of the Offuman township got the chance to address everyone gathered as the reason behind the yam festival needed to to be re-emphasized.
“I appreciate you all, once again, for being a part of this August ceremony– a very vital part of the Offuman tradition. The yam festival has been celebrated over the years to promote peace, unity and development among the people of Offuman”, stated Nana Brokuo II.
He added that environmental development is essential to the traditional leaders of Offuman, which is why they would do best to eschew from any act that seeks to desecrate the sanctity of the Offuman soil.
