GRA Targets Faith Base Organizations

In its quest to decentralize tax collection and mobilization, the Ghana Revenue Authority has developed a new model for collection, with faith-based organization in focus.

This new move was unveiled by the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Ms. Julie Essiam during at a meeting with the leadership of the Methodist Church of Ghana.

‘‘Our vision is to leverage this pioneering partnership as an operating model across all faith organizations,’ she stated.

She expressed optimism that this new approach will help the country rake in the needed revenue to address its developmental needs, as the citizenry become well-informed and complies with their tax obligations.

Ms. Julie encouraged the Methodist Church to include tax education in its weekly bible journal.

‘‘With this, we remain assured and very optimistic that this initiative will assure a permanent space in the Methodist Weekly Bible Journal,’’ she added.

Meanwhile the Board Chair of Ghana Revenue Authority, Hon. Joe Ghartey has encouraged Ghanaians to pay their taxes.

He expressed the need for Ghanaians to heed to their tax on bligations to spare the government from relying on excessing borrowing, which eventually takes a toll on our economy.

Mr Joe Ghartey congratulated Management and staff of GRA for exceeding its midyear target for 2024, amidst the uncertainties that greeted tax mobilization at the beginning of the year.
