The Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated the newly appointed World Bank President Mr. Ajay Banga for his appointment as the World Bank President.
The Vice President took on to his Facebook page on Wednesday March 1, 2023 to deliver the message, saying:
“Congratulations to Ajay Banga for his nomination by President Joe Biden as the next President of the World Bank. Born and raised in India, Mr. Banga is very familiar with the issues facing developing nations.”
He added, “His vast and rich experience in the private sector and his passion for all things digital make him an appropriate and exciting choice for developing countries in general and African countries in particular. Congratulations to you Mr. Ajay Banga.”
With a wealth of qualification and understanding of economic problems especially pertaining developing countries, Mr. Banga was appointed by President Biden on Thursday February 23, 2023.
Mr. Ajay Banga born in India is an American citizen and succeeds David Malpass who was appointed by Donald Trump in February 2019.
President Biden said he looked forward to Mr. Banga using his long years of experience from the Wall Street to get private-sector lending to developing countries.
“Ajay is uniquely equipped to lead the World Bank at this critical moment in history. He has spent more than three decades building and managing successful global companies that create jobs and bring investment to developing economies, and guiding organisations through periods of fundamental change.”
He added, “He has proven track record managing people and systems, and partnering with global leaders around the world to deliver results.”
Ajay Banga has worked with the Mastercard Inc for 12 years, he was also the head of the General Atlantic, a US private equity firm, before his appointment.
