5 persons have been injured in Bibiani Zongo amidst a clash that occurred between the residents of the community and the military guards of Asante Gold Corporation.
According to the Assemblyman of the area, some residents of Bibiani went to the Asante Gold Corporation premises to pick up some materials termed as “black” but they were ordered by the military to return them.
However, the locals were unwilling to comply, which led to the altercation. He claims that there have been other incidents of this kind in the past.
Out of the five injured persons, two sustained gunshot wounds and the remaining three had minor injuries.
The five injured persons are currently responding to treatment at the Bibiani Government Hospital according to sources.
Meanwhile, some suspects have been apprehended by the police and are assisting with investigations.
