Prisoners in Nsawam prison talk about how they are amending their lives inside the prison to create a smooth transition back into society.
In an interview on 3FM Drive show hosted by Giovani Caleb on January 28, 2023, with a prisoner, he revealed that he is currently enrolled in the Business Administration programme offered by the University of Cape Coast. The prisoner added that he currently holds an HND in ICT.
“I have been here for almost seven years, and I have six months to come out. He’s also schooling. He doesn’t joke with his studies too. Every night we wake up at dawn to read our books to acquire something good so that when we come out, we can perform something good out there,” the prisoner told Giovani.
“Being here doesn’t mean that’s the end of it. We have not failed. It’s not easy, but if you are able to cope with the situation you find yourself in, you will be able to automate what you want,” he added.
Other prisoners are also happy to complete their Basic Education Certificate Exam (BECE), as they proceed to study General Arts courses in confinement.
