Over 40 fire cases reported on Christmas Day – GNFS officials say 

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has send a caution out to the public to be extra careful during this period of festivities.

According to the GNFS, it has recorded over 40 cases on Christmas Day alone, making it a big problem to the general public.

It said that out of the 44 cases that were reported on 25th December, 2022, had 19 of its cases to be domestic, 9 were commercial, 8 were bush fire, five were vehicle fires, two electronic faults and one was crown fire.

One of the places that had the most fire cases recorded was Tema community 11, Ashanti region recorded 6, Greater Accra region had 5 and the least was the Upper East region recording only 1 .

In a press release on Monday, December 26, 2022, they disclosed that there were no casualties.

“Fortunately, no fire incident casualty was recorded.” 

The Service also mentioned that the rise in numbers may be “very worrying”.

The Director of Public Relations ACFO I, Timothy Osafo-Affum added that the public should play its role in preventing these disasters from happening. 

 “The Service, therefore, calls on the general public to play its role in Fire Prevention by prioritising their own safety through the adherence of basic fire safety measures being churned out by the Service throughout the country and make positive attitudinal changes toward fire management to reduce fires during this festive season and beyond,” he said.
