As snow is mostly known in America and other European countries, harmattan is one of the 3 seasons that is experienced here in Ghana.
The harmattan has been experienced again this December after a very long time. People woke up to a very dry and moist weather.
For the past 3 years, there has been a vast change in the weather when it gets to December. We barely see the harmattan that we mostly see when it gets to December.
The Acting Director-General of the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA), Mr. Eric Assuman, on November 24, 2022, stated in its 2022/2023 dry harmattan season advisory that: “From December 2022 to February 2023, the number of dry weather conditions, cloudless skies, and hot days across most part of the country will gradually increase.”
In some cases, we see rain pouring down in December which per our weather season calendar, does not happen or should not happen.
Harmattan, as known is one that makes December or Christmas in Ghana memorable because it is one of the signs that represents winter in Ghana just as in Europe and America.
