On Monday, the 21-year-old stood in Manchester Magistrates’ Court, accused of assault and “repeatedly engaged” in controlling and coercive behavior. The three charges all pertain to the same woman.
The footballer was arrested for the first time in January on suspicions involving a young woman after photographs and videos were released online.
He had been on release since, but was detained on Saturday in the Trafford region for an alleged breach of restrictions.
District Judge Mark Hadfield then delayed proceedings until later Monday morning, when a decision on his bail arrangements will be made.
Greenwood, a Manchester United footballer, wore a grey Nike tracksuit, a white t-shirt, and grey jogging pants, as well as grown-out hair and a moustache. His relatives, who were seated in the public gallery, were there to support him. Greenwood was out on bond until Saturday, when he reportedly violated his bail conditions, prompting authorities to prosecute him.
Manchester United earlier stated that the attacker will not be able to return to training or games until further notice.
