The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will successfully proke Ghana out of the IMF program.
He said in an interview with Obaatanpa radio while he visited the people of Kasoa on Friday, September 2, 2022, to address certain issues pertaining the country.
According to him, when asked by the host of the show if he can make some reshuffle and sack Ken Ofori-Atta from office as demanded by most Ghanaians, it is his (President Akufo-Addo’s) responsibilities to do a continues assessment on the performance of his Ministers.
According to him, he will act based on his personal assessment and not what people will ask him to do.
He therefore added that the public’s opinion is very important to him in a democracy but at the end of the day, he still has to make his own judgment.
“On everyday we are assessing their performance. It is not something that I have to wait for people to tell me to assess. It is a continuous assessment.
“If I’m satisfied and the output is still strong, i know what to do. I am not refusing to listen to people, public opinion is very important to me in a democracy but, at the end of the day I have to make the judgement whether or not particular people should go or not go,” President Akufo-Addo told the host of the show.
He however added that: “This same Finance Minister who people are calling for his dismissal today, is a fairly man who will proke us very successfully out of the IMF program and help us produce the 7% race of growth that we had before the covid.
“People are forgetting that today because of the difficulties in the country but he is the same and he hasn’t change.
“And I believe that he has the same determination to walk us out of this crises as he showed at the beginning of our government.”
He however urged Ghanaians to keep supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because they are the only party who can make Ghana a developed state.
