ECG warns debtors to pay their debts within four-month

The management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has told its debtors to pay their debts within four months.

In an interview on the New Day show on TV3 on August 12, 2022, the ECG Tema Regional Public Relations Officer, Sakyiwaa Mensah explained that debtors are expected to pay 70 per cent of the total money in the first four-month period while the remaining 30 per cent should be payed within the remaining three months.

Her comment comes after she was contributing to a discussion on the show about the debt owed by residents of Manya and Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region.

According to the Managing Director of the ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama, the total outstanding debt owed by residents in Manya and Yilo Krobois is ¢168million.

“ECG buys the power from independent power producers and sells the power. The total outstanding debt in Yilo Krobo and Manya Krobo is totaling ¢168million. So it is safe to say that you and I are paying for that.
