The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has stated that it has started full investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of alleged improper and unlawful acquisition of state Lands.
In a statement released on May 26, 2022 and signed by Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, the investigations of the lands will be at the Achimota Forest enclave and Ramsar catchment at Sakumono in Accra which were acquired by the former Chief Executive of Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owosu Afriyei, also known as Sir John (now deceased) and some other persons.
The Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources is however directed to fully cooperate with the OSP in the investigations.
Background
For the past few days, the Achimota Forest Reserve has become the talk of town when the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was alleged to have decided to sell the lands to some individuals which caused a lot of controversies.
It is through that incident a document alleged to be the last Will of Sir John leaked which indicated him sharing some parts of the Achimota lands to relatives.
