The President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told Ghanaians that he’s a president who never fails to fulfill his promises.
According to him, he does not make promises he cannot fulfil and so Ghanaians should be calm and give him more time to fulfill his promises.
He made this statement on Friday, May 20, 2022 whiles he was at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the $90 million University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), in Bunso, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
“I also indicated that construction of this campus will begin within the next three (3) months. As you already know, President Akufo-Addo does not make promises he cannot fulfil and I am happy that we are all gathered here at Bunso to cut the sod for the construction of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences, which will be a Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Built Environment”, he said.
“So, it is obvious that to be a part of this modern world, there must be science and technology elements at all levels of the development process. This means that a country’s development depends on its ability to understand, adapt, produce and commercialise scientific and technological knowledge in ways appropriate to its culture, aspirations and level of development”, the president added.
The school which is said to be completed within 24 months will be a standalone and independent University that will be dedicated to the study of Engineering and will also be the second public University in the Eastern Region. It will however focus on satisfying human resource demands from domestic industries.
The establishment of the University is also part of the Government’s response to the current national preoccupation with food security. It will provide leadership in teaching, research and public outreach across a number of fields, and will help address problems that affect our food security and enhance the future competitiveness of Ghana’s industries in a sustainable manner.
Meanwhile, addressing the gathering at the event, President Akufo-Addo said the vision for the University was borne out of the current emerging trends of the world which are essentially driven by technology.
