Okatakyei Kwame Afrifa Mensah, host of ‘Asempa Yetia’ on Power FM has criticized investigative journalist Manasseh Azure for complaining about the recent safety of journalists in Ghana under Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.
This is because, according to him, under the John Mahama administration, Manasseh criticized and wrote anyhow about the government thinking Akufo-Addo would be the best president when he comes to power.
“Under the John Mahama administration, you were writing anyhow and criticized the government. He even started a column called ‘Masseh’s Folder ‘ where he attacked the Mahama administration and later said the president had taken a second-hand Ford (Expedition) vehicle thinking Akufo-Addo would be a good president”, Okatakyei said.
This however comes after the investigative journalist who is a media campaigner for the recent World Press Freedom Day on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, campaigned against Akufo-Addo government for his recent unfair treatment against journalists. According to him, the president quietness on threats against Ghanaian journalists this days is very perturbing.
In a Facebook post, he said he did ” some of the most daring works ” during the regime of former president John Mahama but never feared for his life as it is today under Akufo-Addo.
“The danger is real”, he said following threats on his life from people suspected to be under Akufo-Addo government.
It is this that Katakyei has said that he is happy Manasseh is reaping what he sowed because, according to him, Manasseh helped Akufo-Addo by “whitewashing him to Ghanaians in order to help him come to power and now they are the same people coming after his life because he is exposing them.
“Today Akufo-Addo has turned Mahama into a fact-checker instead of an investigative journalist. Today, Manasse’s folder is wet so he can’t write and criticize him again”, he said on his program, Asempa Yetia.
