A second-year Biological Sciences student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is said to have been murdered by a friend over a dept.
According to the police, the incident occured on Friday (April 22, 2022) at Sewua in the Ashanti region where the suspect Emmanuel Boateng, aged 25, has now been arrested and charged with alleged murder.
According to them at around 5:30 pm on April 22, 2022, the police in Feyiase received a call that there was a body lying in a bush at Sewua.
They however, together with the assembly member of the area and some traditional leaders went to the scene and found a male adult dressed in a red T-shirt and a blue trousers.
An inspection conducted on the victim’s body revealed a swollen neck and blood oozing from his nostrils and a stick suspected to have been used to commit the crime lying about 200 metres away from the body.
He was identified as Kwaku Adu Gyamfi, a level 200 student of KNUST.
Preliminary investigation
According to the police, a preliminary investigation indicated that at around 9am on the same day, a friend by name Emmanuel Boateng, visited the deceased at his house at Esaso-Kwablafo near Esreso and they both went out together.
He however lured the deceased to the area of the incident with the excuse of going to show him a plot his mother was developing.
According to the police, when they got to the area, the suspect asked the deceased to sit and wait for him while he attended to nature’s call.
He was said to have allegedly hit him with the stick on the neck and took his mobile phone away.
Meanwhile, the suspect has admitted to the crime narrating that, he was owing the deceased an amount of money and couldn’t pay him. So, he (deceased) begun asking him for his money in order to aid him prepare for school.
To end it all, he had to commit that crime just to stop his friend from asking him of his money.
The deceased body has since been transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
