BREAKING: E-Levy bill finally passed

The E-levy has finally been passed by Parliament on Tuesday March 29, 2022 after the third reading in the House with main Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin in his seat.

Meanwhile, the Minority staged a walkout after the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu made a statement that the NDC MPs remain united in ‘kicking out’ the policy.

Contributing to the E-levy debate in the House, he said if it is passed, it will increase “the high cost of doing business in the country.”

“E-levy is the nuisance of nuisance tax, businesses are suffering under your watch. We are united that we will not support E-levy, we will not vote for E-levy”, he said.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, moved a motion for the passage of the E-levy in Parliament after he has presented a statement in the House.

“I, therefore, move the motion” for the passage of the E-levy”, he said.
