Drivers and Car owners have been advised to seek the advice of the National Fire Service before purchasing Fire Extinguishers for their cars.
This is according to a Fire Officer at the Ghana Fire Service in the Brong East Region.
According to him, it is part of the responsibilities of the Ghana Fire Service to advise vehicle owners on the type of fire extinguishers that fit their vehicles.
He bemoaned the one-cap-fit-all approach to purchasing fire extinguishers for cars. To him, every car has its own appropriate extinguisher.
He warned that without proper advice and prove that a car has properly been protected against fire accidents, insurance companies will be hesitant to pay any compensation in the event of a fire accident.
