Vice President of the republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on the Ghanaian youth to embrace entrepreneurial spirit, one which is based on skills acquisition.
He noted that the future of work is skill based and not about the acquisition of certificates.
He made this observation when he hosted the 15 Gold medal Winners of the 2021 WorldSkills Ghana National Skills Competition at the Jubilee house on Monday.
According to the Vice President, the Nana Addo led government has committed to promoting vocational and technical education in Ghana, with the launch of the TVET Service and the huge investments in technical and vocational training in Ghana.
He reiterated that the government has also made huge financial resources investments in skills training, construction of ultra-modern workshops, training infrastructure and equipment for the Ghanaian youth to receive training, so they can be competitive on the global job market.
The Winners are expected to compete with their counterparts in the Africa leg of the global WorldSkills competition in Namibia, next year.
He congratulated the winners and pledged the country’s support for the winners as they head for the Africa skills competition.
