Vaccine Hesitancy, Worrying- Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye

The Director General of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye has expressed disquiet about the growing vaccine hesitancy in the Volta region and other part of the country.

Reports have it that large quantities of vaccines to the Volta region have expired due to the unwillingness of persons in the region to get vaccinated.

This has since been attributed to the vaccine hesitancy in the region.

Responding to this development in an interview on CITI FM, the Director-General of Ghana Health Service signaled renewed efforts to intensify education and education in the region.

‘‘The reluctance is not only in the Volta region. It is across other regions. It’s about the strategy and the engagement with the people. The more we engage, the more the people take the vaccines,’’ he remarked.

He noted that the development could roll back gains in the fight against the vaccines and urged Traditional and opinion leaders to add their voice to government’s effort in this respect.

Dr. Aboagye indicated that his outfit will design and roll out new strategy to better engage with persons who are refusing to get jabbed against the virus.
