Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has advised the President to use reshuffles to help to crack the whip on his political appointees who cannot tame their presidential ambitions.
He was commenting on reports of seeming heated and spirited Presidential aspirant campaigns in the ruling New Patriotic party.
Reports of widespread internal jostling for the flagbearership position has been pronounced, with key government functionaries at the center of this campaigns.
This has prompted leadership of the party to issue directive to all aspirants, prohibiting any forms of political campaigns ahead of the Delegate’s Conference.
In a similar fashion, President Nana Addo Danquah has also instructed that persons nursing Presidential ambitions, whilst still as Ministers, should resign from his government.
But Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show, Kwaku Baako Jnr asked the President to take a hardline stand against appointees who cannot hold their presidential ambition in check.
He asserted that such persons deserve no place in President Nana Addo’s government.
He questioned the wisdom in jostling for Presidential candidature, one year into the current government’s second term.
He described the occurrence as a misconduct and premature and called on the government to crack the whip on such persons.
Likening the current internal jostling to what occurred in the NPP in 2007, Baako warned that the development could affect the work of the government.
