Social Commentator, Allotey Jacobs, has raised issues with the seeming internal jostling in the New Patriotic Party, some few months into their second term.
Widespread and heated internal political campaigns has surfaced in the ruling New Patriotic Party, ahead of their Annual National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
This has prompted leadership of the party to issue directive to all aspirants, prohibiting any forms of political campaigns ahead of the Delegate’s Conference.
In a similar fashion, President Nana Addo Danquah has also instructed that persons in his government harboring Presidential ambitions should resign from his government.
But Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show, Allotey Jacobs expressed displeasure with the current happenings in the ruling New Patriotic Party.
‘‘If you have a weak party and a strong leader, you cannot win election, same as when you have a weak leader and a vibrant party,’’ he stated.
Describing the President as a Social democrat, the former Central Regional Chair of the National Democratic Congress commended the President for proactively engaging with people at the grassroots on his policies and achievements to them.
According to him, some Ministers, owing to their Presidential ambitions have abandoned the need for grassroots engagements.
He warned of dire political consequence if nothing is done to curtail the presidential ambitions of some persons in the government.
‘‘If you don’t start entering into the psyche of Ghanaians, and you start doing this, you will be surprised,’’ he stated.
