Justice for Ghana restrained from Picketing

The Ghana Police Service has secured an injection against planned perpetual picketing by a group known as Justice for Ghana, in parliament.

The injunction was granted by a High court in Accra.

The group planned to embark on a demonstration against the 2022 budget statement and economic policy of government in Accra today, Wednesday, 08 December, 2022

The ruling against the planned picketing does not injunct the group led by former Chairman of the PNC, Bernard Monarh, from its planned demonstration

This demonstration was expected to be climaxed with a planned picketing at the Parliament house.

The group is advocating for the withdrawal of the 2022 budget, and has vowed to picket at parliament until same is withdrawn

Meanwhile the convener of the group, Bernard Monarh insists that the group will go ahead with their planned picketing at parliament as they have not been served with any ruling of injunction.

He stated that the decision of the Police to head to court for an ex-parte injunction is unlawful.

‘’There is a ruling that you don’t go to court to secure an ex-parte motion to stop people from going. You must come through notice to the other party. We have not been served any attempt by the police that they were going to court. ‘’ He wondered why people expect the group to be lawful when Ghana police has acted unlawfully
