Ghana Private Road Transport Union has called off today’s strike.
This follows engagements between the various commercial transport unions and presidency.
The Driver Unions had urged their members to embark on a strike to protest against the rising fuel prices which have affected their business.
This saw scores of commuters struggle to get commercial vehicles for their various destinations.
Left with no option, some of these passengers have had to walk for long hours with some opting for tricycles.
The few drivers who had defied this directive courted the displeasure of their colleagues. This led to wide ranging heckling, with some having their car damaged.
Whilst leadership of the Driver Unions are yet to announce a conclusive decision from their engagement with the government, they have urged members of the various commercial transport unions to resume operations.
Despite this directive from GPRTU, reports from Peace FM suggests that scores of passengers are still struggling to get vehicles to their destination
Checks at various lorry stations and bus terminals cast a similar image of what happened in the morning.
