Driver unions across major bus terminals in Accra are on strike.
The Drivers are laying laid down their tools in protest against rising fuel prices.
To ensure compliance, it is reported that adamant working drivers are met with the risk of either having their tyres deflated or being attached.
Scores of visibly stranded and agitated passengers can be seen at various Troskey and bus, terminals stuck for hours.
Reports indicate that other commuters have been left with no option than to walk for miles to get to work or other destinations.
Others have had to make do with waste-conveying tricycles to get to their destinations.
Some unscrupulous persons have also capitalized on the strike to mount roadblocks in some major route, heightening the traffic situation in the capital city.
The police have had to deploy personnel to some flagpoints to avert any disorder.
Online ride hailing companies appears to be cashing in on this strike as surge in request have led to astronomical rise in cost of transportation.
The Driver Unions have been in weeks of negotiations and talks with governments to intervene in the high fuel prices, a situation which, they say, have taken a toll on their business.
They want some levies and taxes on petroleum products to be scrapped to reduce the prices of fuel.
